Tuesday Out and About

Art Springer, North Carolina, a former FFA State Secretary, 1964-65, Delavan, MN; visited with the CHS MOBC and Chapter House today.

He and fellow team members pioneered the National Non Smoking campaign at the National Convention.  Springer also was actively involved with the decision to allow girls into the FFA, but in 1964 most were in opposition of this change.  Later he attended U of M, St. Paul and then started teaching Ag at Truman, MN.  Springer was there from 1967-70.  He then became involved in Ag Sales for Land O'Lakes and Van Deist.  Pictured holding the "Minnesota FFA From the Beginning"; where he is pictured with Princess Kay of the Milky Way, for the up coming calendar for the National FFA.

Art just happened to run into former students showing sheep; (left) Steve '68 and (right) Tom Zehnder '71-who's daughter Laura Bidne, current Ag Instructor, JCC.
